fulfillment of its state mandate, NIPC provides numerous programs and
services to the region, as described briefly below. If you need assistance in any of the following

Data Research and
Forecasting Services. Including retrieval and analysis of Census
information; preparation of population and employment estimates and
forecasts; Geographic Information System (GIS) mapping, analysis, and
user training.
Model Ordinances and
Best-Practice Manuals. Including stream and wetland protection;
soil erosion and sediment control; stormwater drainage and detention;
fair housing; local human relations commission; traffic management.
Environment and
Natural Resources Technical Assistance. Including lake monitoring
and protection; watershed protection; stream stabilization; stormwater
management planning; hydrologic modeling; greenway planning.
Administrative and
Technical Support. Including help for Corridor Planning Councils,
regional solid waste planning agencies, and other intergovernmental
organizations addressing shared planning issues.
Notification and Review of Projects. Including amendments to
wastewater facility planning areas and funding requests to state
agencies including the Illinois Department of Transportation, the
Illinois Department of Natural Resources, and the Illinois Housing
Development Authority.
Publications.
Including regional policy plans; aerial photographs
(1970-75-80-85-90-95-2001); maps of flood hazard areas, wetlands, and
bicycle paths; regional base maps.
