- The wetlands are within the 500+ acre Tri-County State Park.
- Most of the site is being restored to prairie and wetland.
- The north branch of Brewster Creek flows through the park.
- A state-of-the-art nature center, regional office, and trail system are planned for 1999.
Protection Status:
- Owned by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
- Designation of the basin marsh as a Land and Water Reserve has been proposed.
Management Problems:
- Wetlands are suffering from past siltation of adjacent agricultural fields.
- Exotic species.
