Research and Forecasting Services

NIPC's Research and Forecast Group consists of a staff of analysts whose primary mission is to provide technical support to regional and local planning. Information on products and services is available from the Research and Forecast Group at 312-454-0400, extension 607. These include:

• Forecasts of Population, Households and Employment
• Current Estimates of Population, Housing Units, and Employment
• Development of Geographic Cross-Reference Files
• Establishment of a Regional Development Database
• Digital Map of the Region CD-ROM
• GIS Metadata Training Materials
• Small Area Birth, Death, and Migration Information
• Census 2000 Data Products
• Development of Census-Based Profiles
• Retrieval of Census Data from Computer Files
• Preparation of Data Bulletins 

In addition to NIPC staff, governments at all levels as well as subscribers are welcome to call on the Research and Forecast Group to assist in locating information sources. As time permits, Research and Forecast Group staff will provide information services for others, on a cost-reimbursable basis. These include retrieval and analysis of data from the U.S. Census and other sources, as well as technical assistance.

The phone number to call is 312-454-0400, ext. 607.  In addition, the regional research library is open to the public by appointment. The library primarily contains documents, reference materials, and other selected resources useful to the practice of regional planning in Northeastern Illinois.
