On June 27, 2007, NIPC held its very last quarterly commission meeting.  All the commissioners wish to thank the region for 50 years of planning together for a brighter future.  This website is no longer active or maintained. Please visit the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) website for current information about planning in the region.

To integrate planning for transportation and land use, the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning has been created by merging the staffs of the Northeastern Illinois Planning Commission (NIPC) and the Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS). CMAP serves the counties of Cook, DuPage, Kane, Kendall, Lake, McHenry, and Will. NIPC served northeastern Illinois for 50 years, from 1957 to 2007.
